Watercress, by Andrea Wang

Today is the birthdate for this special book. On the surface it’s about a family car trip interrupted by an impromptu stop to pick wild watercress. From the very first pages the story emerges as so much more: two generations bound by two countries, longing for home and wanting to belong. The writing is so strong it doesn’t even need its beautiful illustrations, but isn’t it wonderful that they were paired?
